Default Anyone ACTUALLY destroy a ball-joint from YFZ450 shocks on warrior?

I hear ppl talk about potentially destroying a ball joint when putting yfz shocks on a warrior (i have an 02) but has anyone ACTUALLY had one fail prematurely from the increased ball joint angle?

I don't care if it increases the ride ht...I've read on here that banshee shocks are only somewhat better...and the YFZ's are a huge improvement.

I'm leaning toward just getting the Yfz's but wanted to post here first.

I put them on my wifes 350 and she has had no problems with them even after 2 VXCS races, 1 GNCC and 1 GPX race. She has also put alot of time on them just trail riding. When it comes time to rebuild them tho Im going to have them shortened by about a .5"-1" to keep the front end from getting to narrow off a jump.

Ive had no problems with Z400 shocks but my ball joints are all close to new to start and I made brackets which take up some of the extra height. Z400 shocks made a 10000% difference over the stock 87 Warrior shocks so I would imagine YFZ shocks would also be way better. I wouldnt be surprised if Banshee shocks were worse then Warrior shocks.

Nice..that's what im' looking to hear.

Any mods to get the shocks to fit on the warrior?

It looks like the yfz's can be had for about 150-200 on flebay.

hey TomM i have a 05 raptor 350 would you recommend the same suspension setup you have on your warrior. z400 front shocks and a raptor 660 rear shock? if so how much money would that be and how hard is it to convert. also what did you mean when you said your wifes 350 front end was getting narrow off a jump? what are your planns to fix that problem? and can i expect to have the same problem on my raptor350 if i did the suspension that way?

the arms travel down so far that the tires start getting alot closer together. longer a-arms would help that or just shortening the shocks up. its not really a problem but it just does not look right. only modifications that need to be done is you have to grind a little bit of aluminum off the bottom of the lower eyelet.

Warrior ball joints are really not that dependable anyway.

The Z400 shocks were absolutely worth it. Cost 100$ on Ebay and had to make brackets to use them since they are way taller (around 4-5"). If you cant fabricate brackets yourself or get them made real cheap then they may not be the way to go but if you can then I do recomend them.

Cant say if the Raptor shock was an imrovement becuase the stock shock was blown when I bought it. It does handle very good though. The shocks on mine swallow up the bumps as well as my freinds Z400. It also cost about 100$ on Ebay . It was an easy install. Only the 01 year will work and its the absolute longest and widest that can fit. The top mount was a little snug and had to be tapped in with a hammer and the reservior had to be mounted different then the stock shock but otherwise went right in.
