<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>and the efi is so much cheaper to get power out of.</end quote></div>
How is the EFI cheaper to get power out of? If you buy a cam, it will cost as much as with a carb or EFI. Same with a piston. Same with a pipe................and on and on...... same cost.

I don't follow what your trying to say?

Perhaps he means dyno time? I'm betting it'd be faster tuning with EFI on a dyno than a Carb ... again, though, this is for the people that are doing a ton of mods and want every last ounce of power out of their quad at a given time of year at a given temperature and given humidity. After all those mods, dyno time is the cheap part.

omg...the 700 with just the 3 basic mods can push out more power than any other quad with just those mods...therefore its the cheapest to make power, you dont need to do internals to push high hp numbers on the 700 is what he is saying, put an exhaust, filter, and pc3 on a 700 and do it right then compare the overall HP to a banshee,450,660 or whatever and good luck making what the 700 made with the same cost. youd have to do alot of internal work to get up to 70hp orwhtever the 700 gets up to

i guess what im trying to say is to get 75hp out of a raptor 700 can be done with 2500 to 3000 into the motor. where ive herd to get hp like that out of say a ds650 would cost you 4-5k. i will have my bike dyno'ed soon with just monster duals, fuel customs intake, powercommander3 and a megacycle cam. i think i will make 60hp with just these basic mods.

and you can do stuff like bore of the throttle body which make like 4-5hp for 160bucks. and sence so meny people own raptor 700s and are tricking them out a lot aftermarket companys are looking and every little part and put the most design $ in raptor 700 parts. like fci for exsample. they only make intakes for 3 or 4 different quads.

You can also make that kind of power with the V. It's not the EFI that makes that power, it's things like the cam, piston, ect..........that's what I'm getting at.

Slap a "good" carb on the 700 and you will make even more power. All the EFI's are on these things are crude open loop feed back carbs anyway.

Yep...I'm not one of those to jump on the EFI bandwagon right away either - it seems to be the "trend word" right now among the manufacturers....but I really don't see it as that big of a deal if the YFZ has it or not. If it made that much of a difference, I am sure Yamaha would be all over it. I think it's a matter of "is it really that much better to justify the cost?", both for the consumer and the manufacturer.....everything I own is carbed, and fortunately I have a great motor tuner to tune my motors to perfection! As for the aluminum chassis thing - why? Isn't the YFZ already one of the lightest 450's out there?

but can your make it for that cheap? and the v will not handle like the raptor will. i ride so cal deserts which have a ton of whoops so you need a lot of suspension also not just hp.

Most of the people that will be aginst EFI are the big Drag/Sand riders as there is a slight advantage to building carbs for these applications, but if you are like the rest of 80% of the country EFI is a wonderfull thing. Most atv'rs never do anything to there quads other than the basic 3 things (if that) and that being Intake,Exhaust,Tires this is what I like to call turn key riders!

I personally love EFI as I ride both my bikes (the Popo being carbed) at 9000-12.000ft elevation all the time here in CO and will never again buy a bike without it.

Like it or not EFI is here to stay just as it did on Sport Bikes. A prime example of this is the 09 Z400!!!!!

i would not say that big time drag racers are againts efi. i mean raptor 700 are hitting 100hp now. i dont think any 4 stroke drag racer would be expect much more than that.

i would not consider myself a big time drag racer but my bike will be dang good and dragging with 80hp give or take. and it will be one of the fastest whooped sand drag quads out there sence it will have long travel suspension front and back.
