carb probably has build up in it and is clogging the jets. I'd take the carb off and clean it real good first

And drain the gas and pour in some fresh fuel. If you let something set up that has fuel fuel in it, you should always shut the fuel off and run the engine at idle until it shuts off to use up all of the fuel. Over time fuel evaporates out of the carb and leaves a nasty gunk that will easily clog up a carb's ports.

i bought a 99 big bear 350 4x4 for 700 bucks that was done the same way (i knew the previous owner so i knew the motor was unhurt), except mine sat for 6 years under a tree uncovered with all the carb plumbing off of it. 650 bucks later and a total rebuild of the rear brakes, carb, rear brake cable, new battery, new air filter, new starter, cleaned gas tank, new fuel lines and fuel shutoff switch, new headlights, changed differential fluids and alot of WD40 shes running like a top. it runs as strong as it did the day it was new.

it really surprised the guys at the dealership when it fired. when it was parked, the fuel was never shut off or drained, so it turned into a sticky paste in the carb and ruined it. that might be the problem, dennis kirk sells replacement carbs for them at about 130 bucks each if its the mikuni carb.

so i have a little over 1300 bucks in a mean *** woods machine. it has mowed down several small trees already. the only thing i had to do was adjust the clutch after it was taken out and spanked for 6 hours. it came back home the next day and the clutch was slipping, so i turned the adjustment nut on the left side of the case and all is good now.
