I'm running the 20w-50 in my 660 grizzly. When I got the bike it didn't use a drop of oil until I changed the oil. I used Yamalube 10w-40. Then I started noticing the oil being low. About every 60 miles I'd add a half quart. So I changed the oil again and switched to Yamalube 20w-50 and haven't lost a drop since. I've put about 400 miles on it since I started using the 20w-50 and had no problems what so ever. I ride in 80-100 degree weather all the time.

I plan on running the 20W-50 in my Quad for Spring / Summer / Fall... If I run in the winter I will put in 10W-40. Though I own a sled.. so I doubt I will use my machine in the Winter.

I use it and have no complaints, I run at the dunes pretty hard in hot weather and have some engine mod's, and it was recomended by the yamaha shop and the guy who built the motor

Norby, You definitely should be running 20W50 -- you might even want to consider Semi-Synthetic or Full-Synthetic for those temps...

I ran the blend and did not notice any diferance. I have never had any temp problems, and I figure the factory uses 10 /40 to test
so for the money I just run the 20/50 and change it at the end of the weekend or after 15 to 20 hrs.

Norby,

You won't notice much in the temp difference.... years down the road you will benefit from having run the semi blend or the full synthetic... the result is less wear on the internal engine components...

Thanks for your input, but for the money I will stick with the 20/50 and change it often, as I said. You are correct, but as often as I change the oil I think she will be OK.
