ScramDaddy and No2Stroke are both right, a Black plug does mean rich, but No2Stroke is also right, it doesn't mean your main jet is too rich, the only way to do a plug check is full throttle for at least 30 seconds. Just because it is black, doesnt mean you are rich everywhere, just means you were rich somewhere. You can only use plug color for main jet adjustments, and for that you have to run full throttle, then pull the clutch and kill the engine, then look at the plug. Most likely, you are lean on the top and rich on the bottom.

I think you have gotten a nose bleed from sitting on that extra tall, poor excuse of a sport quad Polaris. Are you telling me that a pulg will not get black from sitting at idle? Or has that all of that 2-stroke smoke polluted your thinking as well. And, uh, yeah, at least my quad aint red, or something.

Thanks for the posts. My plug matches the carbon deposit profile (my exhaust fins and the side of my 6-pack rack are black and I blow smoke when I start up) I thought I would back out my air screw a bit and see what happens but I can't get my hand in there

Remember turning the air screw clockwise leans out the air feul mixture.
Turning it counterclockwise richens the mixture.

I don't know how the raptor carbs are set up, but my air screws have always been set at 1 3/4 turn out from the closed position.

Do yourself a favor, and take a look at this website. It is a good source for CV carb tuning, which is what the Raptor has, twin 33mm BSR.

The main jet in the Raptor is not hex shaped it is round.

BlueLeader,
I am unsure why nobody has mentioned this to you. You are talking about a WB E-Series. Right?
All the people I know with these, no one has had to re-jet.
YOUR SILENCER IS ADJUSTABLE!!!!!
More discs and less discs will change your being lean and or rich. TRY IT. You should be able to dial it in, without touching your carbs.
Unless you have modified the airbox!
