Picked up a cheap 96 Timberwolf - need some advice on repair
hi all
I've got a Honda TRX, decided to pick up another quad and ran across a guy selling a Yamaha Timberwolf on the cheap. The catch is the frame is broke.
I've searched the forum readingabout welding versus purchasing frame.
First of all this is the part that is broke. I don't know what its called so I'll call it the sub assembly swingarm
Sub Assembly
so question number 1 is - can you just buy that? Doesn't appear to be a purchase item at any of the online places.
secondly
here are some pictures of the frame where its broke
First Pic

Third Pic
you think a competent tig welder could salvage it?

a good welder, fabricator can fix anything thats metal definitely, but the prob is finding somebody who is truely good at it, and being able to pay him to do it. my father is an extremely good welder, hes a diesel mechanic but used to be a fulltime welder. im sure he wud be able to fix, but id try looking for a used frame on ebay.

well I guess I lucked out.
I picked up a swingarm on ebay for <$30, went ahead and bought a bearing kit and a rear bearing/seals kit
if I can pull this off, all told I'll end up with about $300 in the thing and have a great running quad.
now I just need to figure out how to get the drive shaft and coupler in the swingarm.......

order that manual. it is about 25 bucks with shipping. if your familiar with car manuals, this one is printed by Haynes, the auto repair publishers. i have one for my big bear and its really handy. it covers removing and replacing and overhauling EVERYTHING on you could ever want to remove or replace.
