We bought our son a Raptor 250 when he was 11, and he has been riding it for almost a year now. The Raptor 250 is a fantastic ATV, and I don't think we could have made a better choice for him. It is easy to ride, fun to ride, and super reliable. The suspension and handling are great.

to be honest the rappy 250 is really tiny, i recomend you look at the 250ex and the z250 first. you will outgrow that rappy in no time. but if its truley what you want then go for it, its a good quad...

I would agree with DVR in that is sizes is two small with any body mass. If I wasn't going to race it I would surely look at the auto's that Suzi and Arctic cat make in the 250 size. They seem to have good attributes on the trails. As far as MX the new Raptors have somework cut out up against the 300 honda and tried and true WELL built blaster.

Well I disagree with the last two post. We had a Honda 250 EX for our oldest son, and a Raptor 250 for our youngest son. The Honda 250 is no bigger than the Raptor 250 when it comes to ergonomics, and how it feels riding it. I ride our Raptor 250 from time to time, and I'm 5'-11" and weigh 220, and I still have fun riding the little thing. The Honda 250 EX weighs 50 lbs more, has horrible stiff suspension, and what feels like half the power of the Raptor 250 (partly because it weighs 50 lbs more). I think he will outgrow the 250 EX far before he outgrows the Raptor 250. Same goes for the Z 250, only more so, because the Z 250 is even heavier than the 250 EX. We have also owned a Honda 300 EX, and the Raptor 250 is a better ATV than it is as well. The Raptor 250 is faster, better handling, and better suspended than the 300 EX, and despite its overall smaller size the ergonomics are no worse.

Hawkman,
go ride a 250 Raptor and decide for yourself. Or at least listen to people that actually own one.

I am glad that you like it, I do think that they did their homework compared to the other brands. I should say that I come completely with racing in mind as I do absolutly no trail riding. My son is 15, he is 6'2" and goes 175. To try to fit him on the new Raptor was not acceptable. Actually none of them were but we seem to fit the Blaster the best. I don't think that it was alot bigger but just the way it layed out seem to fit him better. If the rumors are true, and granted they are just rumors the quads the other 3 are coming out with will make the raptor absoluete, but that is just the down fall for being the first to come out with something new. Now saying that I can't even imagine what these companies are thinking. AMA has a specific class for a 300 4 stroke, I can't imagine what they are doing coming out with 250's.
This is just my 2 cents worth and maybe even only worth one cent if that .
Have a great day guys and gals.

im only 5'2", but my current atv is 550 pounds dry, so i can handle something big. the only thing is the price budget that id rather have the 250. ive jst heard raptors and outlaws are the best and raptors are lower priced, so thats why im goin for raptors. the 250 is almost a foot shorter than my atv, so i dont want anything that small i dont think. and i wouldnt be racing this atv, it would just be a fun machine to ride the trails and sand on and i want the manual clutch and gears just for fun cuz my other atv is just gas and brake.

just looked at the 350, and id probably get that instead cuz i will need reverse and its bigger, but its air cooled. where i ride here in central florida it can get up to 95-100*F sometimes. my 300cc hawkeye doesnt have any major problems other than it will get really hot, but the open body style of the raptor will probably allow alot more air circulation and cooling. are there any optional oil coolers for the 350?
