If your airbox and exhaust are stock you shouldn't have to re jet. I like UNI filters just keep it clean.

Yeah but keep in mind you're not going to get the full advantage of the filter unless you re-jet.

The question is:

Why did you spend the money on a Uni air filter when the stock one does a pretty darn good job?

IMHO...
The Uni. K&N, Twin-Air etc filters are good and beneficial for this particular quad only if you are modifying the engine, IE Jet-Kit, Cam, aftermarket exhaust etc..

A simple air filter change / jet-kit isn't going to provide much engine improvement... as you said

The stock Yamaha style foam filter does a good job of keeping things filtered... it is the same open cell foam filter style as Uni / Twin-Air.

I change my oil every 500 miles (I am a freak.. I know they say every 1500 miles.. but oil is cheap - well relative to getting engine work done..) on my machine.. and it really isn't that dirty... not black that is for sure.... then again.. I don't ride in real dusty areas either... I have 940 miles on it now.. and due for a oil change very soon..

I ride in very dusty conditions so filtering is big for me.

So does the Uni-Filter completely replace the Stock metal cage / foam filer?

Also if you ride in real dusty areas - you might want to keep a spare filter
