I broke my shifter in a pissed-off flustered rage and now it spins 360 degrees around. I also added anohter repair to my to-do list. My question is can i buy a single piece for easyt repair or do i really have to take the whole clutch assembly apart??

um i dont think you have to remove the clutch but you might want to get a clymer manual or some kind of literature, i think that would help...see i did the search for you

i have two books but the describe an entire breakdown thats why i wasnt sure if it was needed. The bolt that broke is on the shifter. Its a swivle bolt but i think i have to remove the whole shifter to fix the problem.

From the looks off this assembly pic i'm afraid i might have snapped off the end of the shift shaft. That would def require a breakdown.

God, if you broke the shift shaft, you need to be careful during those pissed-off flustered rages! If the shaft coming out of the engine is broken, all you have to do is pull the right side clutch cover and pull the clutches out, then the shift shaft will slide out of the right side....It's not so bad, only takes about 2 hours to get it apart and all back together again. You don't have to remove the engine or split the cases.

I would examine the shifter linkages before I did all of that. Usually the swivel ends on the linkage will break long before you damage the shift shaft. If that's the case all you have to do is replace the linkage - very easy job. Shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

alright cool. I'm pretty sure it is just the link but will that swivel just pop out or will it need more parts for repair?
