Blaster trouble...Help!
#1
I have a 1995 Blaster and here are the symptoms:
I can get it started, but when I give it throttle, it dies. It doesn't even try to go at all. If I let off, it will go back to idle. I can get it to increase in speed if I adjust the pilot or TORS idle.
Here is what I have done:
New reeds (Boyesen)
Carb cleaned
New air filter (Uni)
Any idea what the problem is?
I would like to have the backyard way to disable the TORS (for troubleshooting)
I would also like to know what the procedure is to properly adjust the pilot (air screw)

I unplugged the TORS at the throttle housing and it did not make any difference. I unplugged the TORS at the carb and the engine died.
I unplugged the main TORS "brain" and now it works! I can give it throttle and it revs!
I then plugged everything back in and jumpered the two wires together that go to the throttle housing. It works! After working the switch at the throttle housing in/out several times, it appears that the switch is sticking.
Next problem...
With the TORS unplugged, I can't adjust the idle (on top of the TORS unit). With the TORS all plugged in and the TORS throttle housing switch jumpered, I still can't get the idle to change. Does the TORS have to be plugged in and working for the idle adjust to work?
Here is my goal:
I want to disable the TORS, adjust the air screw for best throttle response, and then get the idle back down to a reasonable level.

The throttle box is not stripped.
I pulled the switch at the throttle housing out of the housing, but left it plugged in. Everything ran fine and I was able to adjust the pilot and idle (at the TORS unit).
I then tried with the switch still in the housing. Same problem, it starts and idles fine, but if you touch the throttle, it dies.
Next, I unplugged the thorttle switch. No change. It will start and idle, but if you touch the throttle, it dies.
I then jumpered the plug for the throttle switch. Everything worked, but it appeared that the idle ran higher.
I am working on this Blaster for a friend and he wants to keep the TORS unit, so I think my next step is to purchase a new throttle switch and make sure everything is adjusted properly. Does anyone have a service manual? I could use the pages that relate to the TORS stuff.

I found that a buddy of mines did the same thing and it turned out his main jet came unscrewed and fell into the bottom of the bowl, be worth checking out..

I have a 04 blaster had the same problem. Quad would idle fine, would die when you opened the throttle. Turns out my emergency brake cable by the clutch was pulled just slightly setting of some sensor in the motor allowing only idling no reving.

The E-brake has been removed, but I do not see any old wiring that would have went to it. I have already been through the carb, no trouble in there. I get the best results when I completely remove the switch from the throttle housing. Can anyone out there email me a wiring diagram for a 1995 Blaster? How about pages from the service manual fo rthe TORS unit?
