I sure hope they dont discontinue making new two stroke atv's like the banshee! I want the banshee as my next quad. Anybody have a guess on how long they will continue production of them?

They might stop producing them but they'll still be around, look at 250r's! they are everywhere... and with something like a banshee that was produced for alot longer than the 250r's they'll be around forever...

True, however I just read on the front page(ATVCONNECTION) that Honda's 2002 lineup does not include two strokes at least they won't have them on 'Full Production'. They are starting already....

I didnt even think honda made any two strokes anymore in quads. Do you think the banshee will still be sold new in a couple years, maybe 3?

2stroke motorcycles

Further to this pledge, American Honda announced today that beginning with the 2002 model year, Honda would only mass-produce four-stroke powered on and off road motorcycles, ATVs and scooters for the US market.
"Honda is, above all, an engine company," said Blank. "Our four-stroke engine designs will set new industry standards for quiet, efficient, power. And four-strokes are a responsible answer to environmental issues."

It's just a matter of time untill ALL 2 strokes are a thing of the past.. They burn oil and that's not good in the eye's of well.. most poeple, And rightfully so. You can see it happening everywhere, EG: Arctic cat's first 4 stroke snowmobile, there's only like 30 built for demos but they get better milage, don't burn oil, and are almost as powerfull. Honda and Yamaha both make 4 stroke outboard boat motors now, not sure when they started but it wasn't too long ago that 2 strokes where all you had to pick from, soon it will probably be law.

Kerplunk,
I wouldn't laugh too hard! Honda says they will no longer mass produce any kind of 2 stroke. That will include the CR lineup. I am sure the rest of the makes (as usual) will follow Honda.

HEHE, I couldn't resist! Just a joke!

Actually that article is misleading.
Honda will CONTINUE to build the CR. Because it is a CLOSED COURSE machine. I guess they don't expect people to ride them on trails.
In refernce to the Banshee: I believe one of the reasons Yamaha built the Raptor, so they will already have another hi-po quad on the market when this wonderful "land of the f***ing free" does ban ALL 2-strokes. And let's all face it. It's only a few years away before it happens.
