Hey Mike,
I have a 98 warrior with some Mods on it. I happen to love my warrior. Although I have had to weld the frame and the swingarm a couple of times.
The engine is bullet proof. I ride mine about 98% on motocross tracks. I'm 6'1" at 230 or so. That could be a big factor of my frame and swingarm crackin. I'm a big boy. Good luck

I have a 2000 Warrior and am very happy with it. I have really driven it hard on MX tracks, dunes, beach, trails , up rivers etc.
It is a really tough sport ATV and essily climbs steep banks and inclines. The bike is very well balanced and suited to tight trails with plenty of torque. It is very stable at speed over rough terrain and soaks up the bumps.
Friends of mine have warriors and I have not picked up on the frame issue.
It is dificult to jump and wheelie at first but is very predictable and practice makes perfect.

Sure your friend will enjoy it.

I have a 96 warrior that i bought new. I am 6'6" 230, big guy like quadcrazy. The only problem i have had with the frame cracking is riding through a field in about 4th gear, and hitting a downed tree about 1.5 ft in diameter. It cracked the frame on the left side(as your sitting on it) right above the swingarm bolt mounting hole. They are extremely tough machines. I love mine!!

Good Luck.

Well let me voice my opinion on this I had 2 2000 Warrior's and only had them for 6 month's and both of the frame's had paint coming off the weld's after jumping them. They were garage kept and cleaned after every ride. Also on the blue one I smacked a tree really hard third gear wound out and it bent the whole frame in about five spot's I hit so hard it put a flat spot in the wheel and knocked the tire off the bead. So that is to be expected. But on the red one I just tapped a tree at the top of a hill and and wham it bent in the same spot. I took them to the dealer and even had a Yamaha rep. come out and look at it and they wouldn't do anything for me! I was so @#$%ing pissed off. Well I replaced the blue frame and had the red on fixed. I was never going to buy a Yamaha product again, until the Raptor came out. If you look on the frame's of the Warrior,Blaster, or even the Banshee right behind where the lower a-arm goes on in front of the motor there is only tubing no gusset's for strength. This is where most of them will bend TRUST ME i know it's the weakest part of the frame. If your buddy does get one get a plate welded in there for stregth. Now look at a Raptor or even the 400ex or 300ex they all have plates welded right there. And I've hit a tree after my Raptor threw my off and all it did was bend the bumper to hell no bent frame. Honestly I loved the Warrior I owned 3 of them and it seems like they aren't as strong as they once were. Tell your buddy to look at the 300ex or 400ex, both better than the Warrior.
