I am looking in to buying a raptor but none of the dealerships in my area will let me test ride one. Anyone else have this problem? If I don't get to ride one soom I might have to buy a ds650.

No I am near pittsburgh, you'll like it but that is BS that they wont let you test ride it. Call yamaha and ask them if there is a place around you that will, who knows maybe they are required to let you but I doubt it due to insurance reasons seeings how we live in a sue happy world. Good luck let us know which way you go.

I had this problem at the local yamaha dealer, went there a couple times once with $2,500 and another time with $3,000 but I guess he thought I was just a kid or something, he wouldnt take me serious at all I said "Im looking for something preferrably chain drive 2wd", he said you'll probally have better luck at the polaris dealer down the road... I knew there was no way in h#ll he'd let me try anything.. Then I went to the honda dealer, told him that I had the money in my pocket and wanted to buy a bike or wheeler and he was more than willing to let me ride whatever, he even gave me directions home (included about 3 miles of highway) if I wanted to just ride the bike home... And I bought a honda. One time I went to the yamaha dealer and told him "I need all the parts to rebuild a carb for an 89 blaster" he said "they dont make such a thing"... He's some old crabby guy that owns the place, very bad customer relations, the honda place is good, the kawasaki place is good, the polaris place is good, but this yamaha guy is a goon.. Needed a valve stem repaired, called all the tire places around here, nobody would do it, so I started calling the atv dealers I figured they sell 'em they must fix 'em, called the yamaha and artic cat dealers, neither would do it, called the honda dealer and he said "bring it on down"..

brokemybanshee,
I know the feeling,I have 6 dealerships in my area, and I don't like going to any of them except my Yamaha dealer.I have to laugh when I read all the opinions for and against these Yamaha's. I am not a big Yamaha fan, but the dealer here makes it worth my while.I own a 99 Kawasaki ZRX(my only non Yamaha),a 99 Warrior,A 00 WR400, and a Raptor. In the past I owned Suzuki's and Kawasaki's exclusively. The reason I have all these Yamahas is because of my dealer.I not only get the best price there, but I get the most Honest and Friendly advice and service. That's what keeps me buying Yamaha. If there are any dealers out there reading this, believe it. That is what will sell machines.By the way, If anybody in Southern WI needs a machine, stop by Rock River Powersports. It might best thing you ever did.

Yeah, i hate to say it but the Yamaha dealers are kinda a**holes. Even after i have bought a 99 Banshee and a Raptor from them they still act like they dont have time to help you with the little stuff. Kinda makes me mad because i bought the Raptor from them sight unseen. I paid them cash for it 4 months before i even got it.It does not make any sense, but whatever, I wont buy from them again if I can help it
