Raptor Problems!!
#21
I too had problems in the beginning. I got my Raptor the last week of September. After the first service I noticed it was bogging. I took it back to the dealer (which they suck). They had my quad for 2 weeks before a Certified Yahmaha Engineer came out to look at it. It ends up, my carbs were machined INCORRECTLY from Yamaha. I had to wait another 10 days to get new carbs. It is fixed now but, I'll tell ya. I went as far as getting info on state specific lemon laws. Yes, I called Yamaha and let them know. They don't care. You are just one in how many million Yamaha product users. All of this SH*T is unfortunate. Hope the people out there with problems get better response than I did.
GOOD LUCK!

BOOGIEMAN,
Same here. I had mine do it a few times STOCK...it got to the point that I told my friends NOT to touch the throttle on start up. It helped, but after the Yami dealer replaced them, and supposedly moved the idle-air out a half turn each, it still happened again, but supposedly Yamaha themselves didn't want to replace them again, SO, I talked the dealer into doing a valve adjustment (no cost to me...they were out quite a bit) and I personally moved the airbox forward as tight as it would go, AND snubbed the forward runner clamp bolts a LITTLE tighter than the BS Yamaha dealer spec torque. My 4-year old could've tightened them better. I've done full pipe, jets, and air filter since then...no more problems. A richer idle seems to help.

Take it to a Honda dealer, take the hit, and get a 300ex. Then put a 305 kit in it for $500-600 and exchange your pipe for one for the 300ex and you will be in the same position with reliability. Still have the small quad and the reverse. Oh yeah, I forgot, get a 20 tooth front sprocket for the 300ex. THEN it will be the same.
