Default no spark?

Hi to all. Yesterday my son was riding his breeze up a small hill (8-10') he was almost to the top when his chain came off. He held the gas wide open with the chain off, while rolling backwards down the hill and did not let go of it for about 10 seconds at the bottom of the hill. Actually he did not let off the gas until the bike cut off by itself at the bottom of the hill. He was scared and I was too, so after I made sure he was ok, and he was, we tried to crank his breeze and it would not start. After checking several things we realized there was no spark at the plug. I did try another plug before we came home and it would not spark either. Have not had a chance to look at it yet, did get it washed this evening when I got off work. I am working 60+ hour weeks right now so I dont have a lot of free time. Hoping yall can give me some ideas of where to start checking this problem.

Default no spark?

so he was he revving it high when it was drifting down the hill? it seems like the spark went out at the bottom and thats when it shutoff, so something must have blownout, either a coil or a stator possibly.

Yes, he held it wide open (with the chain off) the whole time until it cut off by itself. How hard is it to check the coil and stator? Ive got a meter if I need it, just never had this problem with a atv.

on your model atv i not sure hopefully sum1 else will help, but on a stator u can ohms test it, and i think an ignition coil u ran resistance test it, i would def get a repai manual for it so u can see the specs.

Well I finally got around to checking this thing out with my repair manual and meter. I performed all the checks in the manual pertaining to the ignition system and everything (coil, magneto, switches) checked good. The manual says if everything checks good to replace the CDI. I have seen a few used ones on Ebay, do yall think this is the right thing to do?

Thanks,
JC

It was the fly wheel key. I also had some shorted together wires in the light system that killed my lights and voltage regulator. Its back to running as good as it ever has.
Thanks for the replies.
