96 Timberwolf 2x4 brake problems
I bought this atv back in 96 brand new. Brakes worked great from the factory as they should. It wasnt to long afterwards that we started having problems with them. I started replacing brake shoes, springs etc. but not much help. The shoes usually would not go back to unengaged mode (which is why i replaced the springs). It does have drums front and rear which is unfortunate. Anyhow, any more suggestions? Brakes cables havent been changed is there any thing else? I have not done the research but is there a disc conversion kit?
Thanks,

It happened to me time ago. It was a shaft that conected the brake cable with the drums.
Once you press the brake, the cable pulls a lever (on the each drum) that makes the shaft turn, and once the shaft turns it makes the brakes shoes to open. The shaft i mencioned was very tight because it had mud and dirt, so didn't want to rotate again to the normal position with the simple presure of the springs. You have to remove the shaft, clean it and clean the hole where it is mounted and put some kind of WD 40 or similar product.
Tell us if that works for your machine, and any question fell free to ask again.

that was the next plan. There is probably a seal of some sort in there as well that might be rotted out. So hopefully i wont have to buy to many parts just clean this up. I wont be able to get to this until after xmas but ill update when i have a chance. Keep the suggestions coming!
