Default ULTRAMATIC TRANSMISSION MAINTANCE ?

ok , how often do you need to clean and lube it ?

what sort of lube does it take?

went riding today, i got flooded out in a big deep mud hole , i had to get winched out, by the time i got it out, the whole front of the bike went under, after that it seemed like my belt was slipping, it seem to get better after i while, but i noticed that my bike was not going as fast seemed to be revving lots higher, than normal.
i took the cover off the side of the trans belt ,and noticed the front clutch was not going ingagen all the way [the belt was not going to the top of the pulley] i found alot of debris in the part where the 3 sliders go in and out, it was caked up with old grease or mud. i clean all the gunk out of it ,now it seems to be going almost all the way to the top of the pulley. i didnt want to rev it to high with the cover off ,i just revved it enough to see if it was working.

what do i need to lube the sliders with ??

can i gunk that part also?

i dont have a manual, i was told that clymer dont make a book for the 2001 grizzly 600 ?

thanks , sorry for the long story. i'am new to these auto/ trans.

Go to www.yamahausa.com and set up an account. They have online manuals for 2002, which should be the same.

I have a 98 600 griz, and a 06 660, I clean them out about once a year. Best thing is to take the front pully off and apart, wash out with brake cleaner, or parts cleaner make sure all of the weights can move freely. Just use standard gun grease to lube. Make sure that no grease or cleaner can come in contact with the belt(its amazing how little grease it takes to ruin a belt...dont ask how i know) I wouldnt advise reving a 600 grizzly at all without the cover on. I have snapped a shaft off doing that and it took the side of the engine and the pulley with it(got expensive)... If any questions, or want me to expand on anything will gladly tell you what i can....
