Default not down shifting

got a banshee and it will shift up fine but it will not shift down. the only way i get it to shift down is to get off and rock it back and forth while pushing the shifter with my hand. anyone have any clues on what is wrong.

I think my clutch is to tight cuz it feels like it is slipping i am goin to lossen up the clutch tomorrow and see what happens. also i have like 1/2 inch of play in my shifter is that normal? cuz when i go to shift up it is almost impossible i have to lift my hole foot up just to shift. my raptor and dirtbike shifter is nice and tight with almost no play
