Question 450 grizzly headaches

Well hello eveyone
well here is the deal I have a 2007 grizzly 450 4x4 special edition. and i am wanting to put after market wheels on it. well it has a 6+1 backspacing with a 4/110 bolt pattern 12 inch rims the problem is that the yamaha dealer and i have looked and can only find one rim from itp that will fit my quad but i was wondering if I used a 5+2 backspaced rim with a 1" wheel spacer if that would work of if that would cause other problems, Any help would be appreciated.

The geometry would be fine as long as the 2 ball joints line up with where the center of the tire meets the ground.

Didn' the SE come with Aluminum wheels? And the rims avialable are not the exact same as factory off-set. Your quad will be 3-4" wider with any aftermarket rim set.

I wish it did come with flashy rims but it came with the same rims as the other 450 grizzlies in 2007. 2008 and special editions come with aluminum rims but cant find them. i am not worried about making my atv wider as most of the trails i ride are wide enough for a truck.

Rocky Mountain ATV can tell you what rims will fit. Put in the quad info on the front page, then click 'wheels'.

Glowd, where do you live? What is your motivation for getting new rims? Lighter weight?

I would never and put flashy rims on my quad.. I spend too much time in the rocks! Here is a picture of my current front rims! 1200 miles... probably 700 of them in the rocks!

I am debating on getting the rim armor but will most likely just add some steel rod into the inside lip of the bead similar to the Yamaha of Canada ATV Rim Rings (cannot get these in the USA which is BS!)

I am in central washington and most of my driving is on hard packed and loose dirt roads. not a whole lot of big rocks to damage rims i think there is only like 5 scratched on my fourwheeler and most of thoughs are from a run in with a dirt outcroping while riding in a revine. The main reason for the new rims is that i get a lot of little rocks that get stuck in the rear brakes and would like a rim that makes it a lot easiier to clean them after a ride without having to remove the tire.

I purchased my ITP's from rocky mountain atv. ITP has a lifetime warranty on all their wheels and will replace them if you bend them.

My Kodiak 450 when I got my wheels.
