Same here. Im sure someone knows why? A Picture should help.

As you can see the space in between the pads is anough for the rotor to fit but that one part is taking up some of the space?

that plate with the rubber pieces on it should move back also, I believe you just push it back, on mine there is a metal piece inside those rubber boots, I believe that plate is ment to move in as the prake pads wear

I have tired that but it does not seem to want to move. I only see one screw to turn.

I will say mine always had to be forced on prior to removing my park brake assembly. Ever since then they go on with ease.

I still have yet to get it on most of the bolts are rusted or have striped heads on them. Is there a aftermarket one?

My parking brake adjuster would not move and I could not get the caliper to expand enough to install new pads, so I purcahsed a block-off plate and just removed the entire parking brake set-up (including the cable, etc). The block-off plate was dirt cheap. Once I had the parking brake removed, the new pads were installed in seconds. IMO, the parking brake is a total waste.

Those are the right pads. Most likely your park brake assembly is FUBAR and needs removed/blocked off. They serve no good purpose and tend to just cause brake drag anyway.
