Default Cheap exhaust?

Hey guys im new here.

Anyways i have probably a pretty stupid question. Not very good with small engines.

Has anyone ever tried to put a motorcycle muffler on there quad? I got a 89 warrior with the stock exhaust that has had the baffle removed so it is pretty loud, only thing is, is that the stock exhaust is pretty ugly.

From what i have read 4 strokes dont need any back pressure (but they could be idiots for saying such things), and i have seen people with no muffler at all.

So have any of you heard of such a thing?

1 issue i have came up with would be the spark arrestor.

Anyways

4 strokes do need back pressure but you could try an muffler off an motorcycle it probably will work make sure and get own that has a little more cc then yours maybe like an 400 cc or a 800cc dual exhaust set up

I was just looking at universal mufflers. Emgo shorty muffler (not the megaphone style) is only $20 at my local shop. Looks like you can see all the way through it, but it is baffled.

It would be to short (only 12" long) so i would have to get a extension pipe, maybe some flex pipe or something cause i noticed that there is a little bit of a curve on the stock muffler pipe.

I put a Spark Arrestor from a CR500 on my Yamoto 150... I had to make a plug to make the outlet smaller so it wasnt so loud...

What exactly is a spark arrestor? Just a metal screen. Dont see that it would be hard to get some metal screen and make it into a cone shape.

Some Spark Arrestors are a screen, and some use a turbine core to keep the sparks from leaving the exhaust... If you use a screen, use one made of Stainless Steel or it will break down quickly..

Spark arrestors generally are a stainless steel screen--the SS can withstand heat unlike regular steel screen.

Also, whomever is saying 4 strokes don't need backpressure is seriously confused. They do need some backpressure. When you buy a quality aftermarket pipe for any motorized vehicle (car, truck, ATV, motorcycle, whatever) you are getting a pipe tuned for the optimum operating backpressure of the engine--and of course for the good sound .
