Default Banshee Rear Shock Seal Replacement??

I've got the new seal head in hand, but can't seem to get the shock to come apart.

Is there a trick or secret to getting it apart? Do the rebound setting need to be at a certain point or ??

There isn't anything in my repair manual...but I need to get this done as my seal went bad and all of my oil leaked out.

I'm having the same problem trying to get someone to rebuild my Tri-Z shock, which is almost the same as a Warrior shock, and similar to a Banshee shock. I was going to rebuild it myself, but could not find ANY info on how to do it. So I took the shock to a suspension shop, and even they couldn't get it apart! This shop usually sets up dirtbike motocross suspensions, though. I ended up taking it to my Yamaha dealer, and they got it apart, but they will not rebuild it. I did find a guy that will rebuild it if I ship it to him, his cost is $130 for new seals, new oil, and recharged with nitrogen. I'm sure he could dod a Banshee shock. Do you have the tool to re-charge it with nitrogen after you put it back together? I did find the tool for $220, and I use nitrogen for work, so that was not a problem.

I found a site with some instructions on how to get it apart. The dust cap is just a press fit, then the seal head is held in by a circlip. Once you have it apart, you can remove the bottom mounting portion and remove the seal head. I got a replacement sealhead from Rocky Mountain ATV for just over $30. The Oil was another $12 and I have a local MC/ATV shop than will charge it for a few bucks. I should have under $60-75 in the rebuild. I just need the time to work on it.

Got the new Seal head in. My local ATV dealer is going to charge me $5 to fill it with Nitrogen. These shocks have a special self-sealing rubber plug. The dealer inserts a special needle (Like the ones that you use for injecting grease in a sealed ball joint) and inflates it through there.

So my updated cost is about $50 with tax on everything. What a deal!
