i`ve had mine for just about a year now and have about 350 miles on it. i plow with it, and ride the trails and mud with it ,the only problem i had was the rear brake pads had to be replaced before winter, other than that its a great machine i wouldn`t trade it for anything.(accept a new one)

Loafie, let me tell you what you can expect. As far as the water pump goes, it's my understanding that problem has been corrected with the 2001 models. The rear brake pads wear out rather quickly. I don't even use the rear brakes and the pads wore out in about 2-3 months. This last time around I went with heavy duty EBC, so hopefully they will last longer. I haven't experienced any other problems and I have taken the quad through everything imaginable. Oh, just one more thing. The Kodiak is a narrow quad which makes it a little more tipsy than other quads.
Overall I'm very pleased with the quad. Since I like to a wide variety of riding, it suits my purpose pretty good.

I had a 95 Kodiak that would do just about all that I asked of it. It was part of the family and had a LOT of mods but the drum brakes had to go. Converting to discs was too prohibitive and then came the 2000. Wild horses(at least three) could probably get me back on ole greenie but I would not be happy. I put lots of miles on mine, usually at Haspen Acres or locally this past year and other than needing more aggressive tread and possibly a clutch kit the Kodiak has been a jewel. You should also look at the exposed rear driveshaft boot. I tore mine the first time out but have since built a custom plate for that area.

Hi FKNA. Im am discovering new places to visit. I couldnt agree with you more about the Kodiak. Put up some pics of the directional light you mention. I am thinking about getting some Hella 530 highbeams. What do you have. If my signature URL doesnt work this time tell me how to space it in the signature please.
