yfz tricks??
#1
i just recently bought a 2007 yfz brand new, of course your asking why didn't i go with the fuel injection. simple it was way cheaper to go with but i have some questions for whoever has time. i am looking for little ways i can tweak it to get more out of it but for now i'm just breaking it in here in a week i'm going to go ahead and get a sprocket one tooth up on the front because i'm more for top speed....but i'm asking what would be the bang for the buck parts that will be worth while to get more out of it?? so any suggestions will be helpful thank you.

2 strokes dont use cams, the cam mod is just rotating your exhaust cam 1 tooth clockwise, and it will increase power from mid to top end, heres a write up on how to...http://yfz450.theatvchannel.com/invi...howtopic=59800

i dont know if i would turn the came it all on your yfz especially since its brand new. i would wait on the came and do the exhaust jetting and the air filter also put in a quickshot on the carb. every dealership i have asked about moving the cam they dont recommend

lol theres nothing wrong with doing the cam mod, most yfzs already have it done, and i said to do the big 3 first before anything,i used to work at a dealer and we did cam mods on yfzs often, there is zero harm on the engine with doing the cam mod, when you buy some aftermarket cams for the yfz the exhaust cam is the only difference they just move the mark on the cam 1 tooth, so the cam mod is the same as getting an aftermarket cam in a way.

i would wait for your 450 to be a little more broken in no sense in messing with the timing when you just got it it will void your warranty and i personally wouldn't do it until you tear in to the motor for something else. those 450s are very high tuned and it just seems like it messing with the timing might be pushing it. i know 9 times out of 10 it would be fine but you just dont know with that kind of stuff and i rebuilt my 06 back to stock and it cost me 2000 for parts and labor

i would wait a while before you do the cam mod, im just saying later on it would be a good idea, after pipe/jets/filter, the cam mod is completely harmless to the engine, the only harm is if you do something wrong, thats it, go to a yfz forum and you will see its a very very common thing for yfz owners to do, and it does open up a nice bit of power it will have more mid to top end pull.
