I have a 2003 Big Bear that is giving me trouble. It will stay running only with the choke on. I put a new carb on the bike about six months ago. I pulled the carb down and cleaned but that did't help. When I rev the engine up I can turn the choke off but then it starts backfiring not sure if it is the carburator or timing.

Wish I bought a Honda.

 

The popping means you are lean. Check air intake for leaks and loose fittings.
