I like the graphics choices for the little quads....makes it alot easier to buy for kids! The new YFZ450X is awesome - I was able to see one up close and it's fit and finish is superb. I think it will make some happy GNCC racers, too! I love the SE YFZR, too - I am going to have to buy a set of those plastics for MY R!

From what I can tell the yfz450x is the yfz450R minus 2.5" width and a lil' less travel in there rear shock?

Nice though. Dealer here in town has one of the '09 YFZR's that I drool over on occasions.

Forget the quads, the real story is the YZ450F dirt bike. Lots of new technology here!!!

2010 Yamaha YZ450F Innovation

What the MX dirt bike guys are riding now, will filter down to the off-road bikes/quads in a couple of years...that is why this is important to you!

WOW!! The YZ450F is built in a logical manner exhaust to back, intake to front. They have a design to make it fit in reverse of the traditional manner. That is amazing! Why oh, why would they redesign the YFZ and the YZ at the same time but, with such different design goals? It's like the Bike and Quad divisions compete. (with the quad losing)

Yamaha still needs a nice V-twin around 900cc in the Grizz and it would be perfect machine. A nice two seater would be very welcomed as well!

The intake/exhaust swap thing had already been done by Cannondale, so nothing revolutionary there. Makes lots of sense!

They put the airbox right up front, and the fuel tank under the seat. Got to have a fuel pump with FI anyway, so you can put the tank anywhere you please.

The biggest thing is that they tilted the engine backward, and the crank is excentric so you get more leverage to the crank on the combustion stroke. I still think I would prefer the Husaberg approach to engine angle/mass centralization: 2009 Husaberg Fe450 Fe570 Engine Photo The excentric crank thing reminds me of "Biopace" chainrings I had on my mountain bikes years ago (do they still do this?).

Fame is very sophisticated.

I read that this will be the pattern for all future Yamahas! Tilted engine, intake in the front/exhaust out the back, fuel tank under the seat, and the offset crank. All makes very good sense!
