Default bought a YFZ and have a part ID question

Hello, I have recently switched gears from rock crawling to quads and just bought a '05 YFZ450. I am new to quads for the most part and was just going through a couple of things on the bike to get more familiar with it. I came across this black box in front of the coolant tank. All but one of the three hoses are missing. There is a K&N filter attached to a hose that I think went to the box at one time. The onter end of that hose, I think goes to the crank case. And the only one that is connected is the top one.

Can I get rid of the box all together or so I need to put things back to stock? Also where does the middle hose go to?

Thanks, Chad

Breather assembly. Wheilly was on the right path but, think got the link wrong. Try this one here.

The line with the filter connects to the bottom nipple. The middle would have a line going into the air box.
If it's an aftermarket filter the hole in the air box is probably silicone up so, they just put a little filter on the line to the crank case.

Got it. I do have aftermarket filter so that makes since. So the top hose still attached goes to ?? Do you think it would be ok to ditch the black box?

I'm not sure where the top line goes. It's not on the diagram. If i get out to bro's house which is where I keep my wheeler, I'll look at mine but, I"m pretty sure I don't have the black box.

It's okay to get rid of the black box and the filter both. Most of the guys that race remove the box and replace the hose with a longer one and route it under the engine similar to a vent hose like the carb has.The hose from the black box plugs into the airbox and vents fumes from the cank case.

I've thought about removing mine since I run an FCI intake without an airbox, but I dragrace my YFZ on a paved IHRA dragstrip and don't won't to take a chance of venting oil onto the track. The black box acts a catch can if you start blowing oil out of your crank case.If I was caught not running a catch can of some type they wouldn't let me race.

Here's my setup

Here's how most people route the hose when they remove the black box
