i appolgize, i should have read more about what you had previously written. the moto4 is a good quad the engines are pretty tuff. see if you can get good gas in it and try to fire it over, then you can see if it's worth the buy. quads that even look like they will run are worth a few hundred in my opinion. and i have ran across parts on ebay for a reasonable price. the carb. should be a mikuni 20? mm. and are easy to work on. hope i was able to help. i'm not picking on you at all. but this reminds me of an old macanic story. "if you hold the quad closer to the phone i could diagnose it better"lol

Well I bought the moto 4. I have not see it yet. My dad was driveing through the town where it was. He said it look ok. The racks and plastic is in good condition. The seat is shot. It did not run. He said the brakes seem to work and it would shift into gear.. All but one tire had air in them and he said the back tires looks almost new.
Do these quads have the auto clutch or manual?
Dad said their was a lever of something down by the gea shift leaver. Is that a hi-low or how you shift it to reverse?
Anyway I have a winter project. I only paid $100 for it.
thanks for your help and I sure I will be back to ask some questions. what is a good but affordable manual. I bought my last one for my honda on ebay for $2?.00. Probably get one for the yamaha and start their.
thanks again

Well,.... Once you get it home and get an ID on what model and year, you'll have a lot more help available to you here.

Good deal on the purchase though I think. I'd have given 100 bucks for it...

go her home tonight. The only number I can see on the motor are on the right side is 1500CM and on the left side is 00A69. Can someone tell me what they mean.
I will get some pictures of it tomorrow if I can post them on here. Looks like it need inthe front A frame bushings, all 4 shocks, brake work.
It says dual range on the left side as well. I am guessing that is a HI Low.
The racks need repainted and the fender are not broke or cracked but very faded. Can they be painted?
what kind/weight of engine oil, rear end oil, trans oil do I need?
thanks again guys. Looks like it could be a fun project.

That the same as the one I had,I think the 1500cm means 1500 cubic centimeters which is the oil capacity, 1.5 liters. The lever is your hi/low/reverse, the motor is a 229cc I think.
