I'm looking to buy racing pant and jersey for some XC events. All the manufacturers seem to have three lines of apperal, with low, mid, and high priced versions. I was wondering the real difference in the versions, and any opinions who's stuff is best.

All I can say is, don't spend your money on MSR gloves. Not if you want a pair that will last.

It is the same as anything, Level 1 gear gives you level 1 comfort, durability, and protection, level 2 is better, and level 3 is the best. Level 1 gear is adequate for average riders, but level 2 or 3 is a must for racing and people who ride hard. One thing to note here is that although a level 1 helmet is better than nothing they are not that great .Dont take the risk with your melon, get the best helmet you can afford. I find that Acerbis gloves are very durable and have ran mine for 2 seasons before they started to get a hole. Any other gloves that I have tried/seen others try, barely last 1 season.

i got the answer top of the line jersey and it is like a silky material, i have seen other jerseys that are jsut like a shirt, jsut plain old coton, mine is really nice and has good air flow and pretty water resistent to a certain extent
