Looks like you and I are doing the same thing! I picked up an old YFM225s a month ago. I have it torn down and found a bearing was out in the sub-transmission. I am waiting for a replacement gear to arrive from Canada. Love reading about your project. I have the manuals and documents you are looking for. Send me an email and I will send them over to you. You can also follow my rebuild on 86 YFM225s restoration

ok so i was looking up some pistons and was just wondering what is the diferanc with thes two piston besides price
Piston Kit, 1.00 (Art)

Piston Kit, Wiseco, 1.00 OS

and what one would be the best buy

The Wiseco has a good name behind it. The Wiseco looks like a higher compression piston. (10.25:1)
The other I couldn't find a brand name for it at all.
With the Wiseco you know it will last. No name brand could have a hole burnt thru it or snap at any given time.
Not to say it will, but that's the risk when buying unknown.

I've used JE pistons a few times with no problems and usually a bit cheaper than Wiseco. Athena is a good brand but prices closer to Wiseco.

hello everyone im back and still working on the moto 4. It was a long and cold winter but the sun is shinning and the riding fever is start to come back. it is time to order parts and start puting her back together. i just got a few Q to ask, 1)dose the oil act as trany fluid to, should i get the yamalube. 2)has any one tryd this cobra muffler out.( Exhaust Cobra Megaphone System - Cheap Cycle Parts ) 3)has any one tryed out this throttle cable out ( Control Motion Pro Turbo Throttle Kit - Cheap Cycle Parts ) thax for your time and help.

Yes the motor oil is your tranny fluid also. My moto 4 had stiff shifting ,and when I switched over to Synthetic oil it shifted much smoother.

so will a synthetic help it to stop poping out of gear too?

How do I time a yamaha 225 moto 4 we just redone valves and gapped now need to know where timing marks are for crank think cam mark is on the case at top right under gear cover . please someone helppppppppppppp lol first one I ever worked on thx.
