Common Banshee Problems
#1
Can you guys tell me what are common Banshee problems that you deal with. With the engine, chassis, or just stupid maintence you have to always have to do to it before and after riding things like that

These are the things that I have done because I thought they needed improvement....
TORS... Removed + added twist throttle
Air box.. Removed, open air filters /outerwears.
Pipes.... Toomey T5's Chromed
Crank... True and Welded
Cylinders.. Ported and Polished by Dennis Packard
SwingArm.. +6 Chromed/Honda style carrier
Water pump..New billet pump and custom inline cooler
Head.... New cool head with 18cc domes
Regular maintenance and all is well....

chain adjusters and rear end come loose after a long ride. use lock-tite, AMP link helps, may need to modify axle carrier. water pump does not hold up, buy an aluminum one. clutch heavy, buy easy clutch kit/lever. put a gas filter on bike. carbs are a pain to take out and put back in.

Problem #1. The one you MUST change as soon as possible is the air filter. Get a K&N or Foam (your preference), but for no reason keep the stock one. It will eat dirt. I found mud/dirt in my carbs after every ride until I changed to a K&N. Haven't had problems with it yet (PS: with a K&N, don't waste your money in a proflow, you can get the same results with a simple K&N -which is 1/2 price- and 1minute of "work").
Problem #2...?
Improvements : endless, but here are some favourites:
pipes, tires, billet kick starter and shifter (uless you enjioy a funny rattling noise)...etc

The only "common" problem that I am aware of is the air filter setup. There are 3 Banshees in my family a 94, 95 and a 97. Based on my experiences, these quads are close to bullet proof under normal conditions. One of my brothers-in-law (95 Banshee) literally performs NO regular periodic maintenance to his Banshee and has had no problems at all and only just recently redid his top end. I discount my other brother-in-law and myself because we are into our Banshees and are very careful about routine maintenance. In my opinion the Banshee is a great quad and one hell of a ride!

I have to disagree with Zorro. You MUST go to a pro-flow if you want to keep your motor together for a good long time. You will not get the same results from a "jerry rigged" stock air cage. I have seen a dyno chart that shows a Banshee equipped with the Pro Flow and K&N pick up almost 5 horsepower over the stock setup. Trust me, you want to pro flow... The plastic simply will not pass the air as smoothly as the pro flow...
