Default Blaster reving. help

Hey guys im new to the website. I Just cleaned up a 98' blaster that hasn't ran in a few years. new spark plug, pulled the carburetor cleaned it out real good and fresh gas. Took a while but finally got it started. wasn't 5 minutes and it started revving out of control. When i tried shutting it off neither the kill switch or the key stopped it. Had to put it in gear and stall it out. We pulled the air filter off to check if the slide was getting hung up. It started reving again and the slide was all the way down. I read something about pre ignition when the pistons get so hot it doesnt need spark which would explain y we couldnt shut it off... but that's usually after a bike has been warmed up. this happened in less then 5 minutes. Any experience with this? if so your thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated...thanks

high reving is a sign of a possible air leak get some carb cleaner an spray around the head gasket area an base gasket if it revs up when you spray it it has an air leak an new gaskets would probably fix it but if you get no change in the idle speed then i would check the tors on the top of the carb they cause some frustrating problems if you cut an splice the wires to the tors unit it will disable it

foolish is right an air leak between cyl and carb will do that or the tors system will also do it its best to get rid of the tors they sell a kit to remove

the tors kit is nice but is unnescessary just cut the wire an twist them together an its no longer active but the idle **** will still work the problem i have with the kit is you have to drill an tap a hole in your carb to put in a new idle screw
