Default Warrior- Removing shift linkage/1piece shifter

Has anyone done this? I found a couple of old posts, but not a good reference on what replacement shifter would be a good match. I'm just basically looking to take some of the slop out and hopefully finding a direct part that comes pretty close to the current setting. I stopped at a local yamaha dealer last night and took some measurements off a couple of the new bikes/wheelers they had on the showroom floor. So far the best fit I found was the yz250f. Looks to be really close. Anyone know what years have the same spline?
Thanks

If I remember correctly the old YZ250 2 stroke shifters worked OK, but you had to bend it a little to make it work right.

nope it wont fit we've tried many and the yz250 and 426 are the only ones that work, the wr and yz250f doesn't come out far enough

Can someone who has done this before post up a pic? I would really like to do this to mine but I'd kinda like to see what it looks like. I just did the raptor clutch assembly swap and was really happy with it and this sounds like it could be almost as good of a mod.
