Default Grizzly 660 shifting problems

Can anyone help with this? I have a 2004 Yamaha Grizzly 660 with the auto transmission. When I shift out of neutral to hi or reverse, sometimes the ATV bucks. It doesn't happen all the time and it doesn't affect anything else. Rides nice and pulls strong. I'm real new to these vehicles and just starting to learn.

Any help would be much appreciated- Thanks

The shift linkage needs to be adjusted

Food for thought! I ride an 05 Griz 660 and mine will do as you said from time to time. I have found that problem only when engine is reved too high. Let the engine idel down before you shift and i think you will find the problem gone.

Ah yea.. Doh! I should have completely READ the First Post!

he's right - if it is rev'd to high it will clunk / buck into gear - I've experienced that on my 450

Agreed. The 660's run a wet clutch, nothing should be trying to turn in there unless the idle is set at too high of a speed. Adjust idle.

That goes for all CVT drives of any make, You must be at idle before you try to shift.
