Default '05 Big Bear Oil Filter Direction ???

So I got lazy and didn't remove my floorboard to do an oil change and the filter dropped out while wrestling it out. It's been a little while since the last oil change (no time to ride much last season) and I want to be sure before I put it back together.

Hole in filter toward engine, correct???

Now to cut that floorboard and weld a longer bracket, should have done it long ago.

Thanks, Bob

The hole on the filter should be facing the filter cover.

Pulled my floorboard off so I could get a good look in there and It's definitely "HOLE TOWARD ENGINE". There's a small fin that recesses into the filter, if it's turned the wrong direction that fin would push the filter out toward the cover preventing it from seating or crushing the filter if forced.

I had to ask though, once you get it in your head something might be wrong it's hard to proceed til you know for sure. Like they say, the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask before making a mistake.

Thanks Again!

That is odd most of the older motor like that have the hole that goes towards the cap forcing the fluid towards the head. But if you made it work that is all that matters! Glad you got it running!
