Me and my Bud are contemplating parking our Sportsmans and taking a ride on the wild side.
We're looking at Raptors, widened for our terrain here in the Southwest, or the Bombardier DS-650, which seems ready to go. We like the reverse thing on the Raptor. So why not get one of each?
I'll take the Raptor 'cause I like to f**k with stuff anyway, he doesn't have the time and wants it to work right out of the box. He likes to go first down the trail, if he gets into a jam, I'll throw him a rope and back us both out!! Hah! Gettin' in the jam will be when we wish we were on the Sportsmans.
What about those shocks? You guys really pay
$600-$800 for shocks? Geez. Each? Holy Geez!!
The DS comes with better suspension huh? The Raptor has reverse and weighs 50 lbs less (how much after A-arms and Axle?) They both haul ***.
They both respond well to aftermarket mods.
What about the rumored new Honda 650EX?

Definetly go with the raptor, shocks are that much for both though, if you need them let me know I can get you a discount. Axle =$300-$360 a-arms are big $$ also =$600-$800 but once you get the raptor dialed in its nice and there will be more aftermarket goodies for it. The DS is to wide in my opinion and to heavy plus as you stated no reverse.

fourlix,

From what it sounds like, you don't really need extended A-arms. If you get an extended axle (2 or 4 inches), the front will be pretty close to the same width as the back.

Shocks would be the next mod to go with.

OH ya my kawasaki Bayou can burn your craptor. NOT! Kawasaki Bayou's suck. Banshees are cool and so is the DS650. I never drove a raptor but I sat on one and it feels kind of small, almost like my friends Suzuki Quadrunner 230.
