Default fixing some of the grizzly 660's weak points

the 02's in particular, ours has gone through 13 rear axles, and it's always the CV joints that break. this one is my fathers, it has 20,4xx kilometers on it, yes it has lots of clicks on it, but i want to buy it from my father at the end of this summer, when he upgrades. what i want to do with it is lift it about 2-2.5 inches, 28" silverbacks, and ITP rims. to save the rear end from those tires, i want to dump the IRS, and go to a solid axle from a grizzly 350. has any one ever thought of this? looking at the rear end it doesn't look that hard. does gorilla still make heavy duty axles that i can put in the front? and the hard starting when it's cold, can this be fixed with a bigger pilot jet in the carb? or do i have to buy a different carb? any help would be greatly appreciated!
