It'd be nice to know the conditions and rider weight as well as fastest and slowest times for each. The gearing would be nice to know as well.

i hate to say it cuz i think the fx400 could be a great quad, but they are full of crap.
1. somehow, the dry weight for the fx400 is only 5 lbs more than its dry weight, but is considerably more for the other three.
2. I know for a fact that the raptor puts out about 35 horsepower stock. Now I do know that different dynos read different, but come on, a 7 horse difference? And the 400ex puts out 27 stock, not 21 as they claim.
3. And as for the drag race...yeah, sure the cannodale won.

Sandgod,
They had the hp/weight ratio posted last week, so I don't think that is the way they figured it.
On some types of dynos, there is a lot of room to manipulate the hp figures.
I'm sure in their testing, the Cannondale did win on an average to 10 races. It wouldn't be hard to taint the results though.
Were they head to head races using different lines where one lane was faster? Do they have the same gearing or close to it? There are hundreds of varibles that we don't know.
In any case, I'm not knocking the Cannondale, just a little skeptical of their testing after seeing those phony HP figures.

Yes the fx400 is faster then a 98 shee. I own both, in fact I own 6 quads. The fastest was the shee untill I bought a fx400. In a 1/8 mile drag race the fx wins by 15 feet or so. Yes the shee motor is fresh. Wiseco, k&n, Boyesen, but with stock ext. system. Both are fast as I would like to go. Still my favorit is my yellow 01 500 4x4 scrambler. Good for all year all type riding. Remember I live in the great state of Ohio.

RACERJIM,
Thanks for the comparison! From what you say, if the rider can keep the front end down, the Raptor ought to be right there with it or even faster.
My yamaha dealer had a stock Banshee out at the track this past winter. The only mods to mine was having the exhaust baffle out. As long as I got a good start, it was no problem to just walk away from the Banshee through mid or upper 4th gear. Then we were out of room and had to shut them down.
With 12.5 compression ,a lumpy cam and aftermarket exhaust, do you think there will be much improving on the power of the FX?
Don't take this post as knocking the FX. I'd love to have one, just not as my only quad. It's nice to see an American company putting out basically a race ready quad with state of the art construction.
