Had the itch for a newer, bigger quad lately, started looking at local dealers, 9k for a new 700 Grizzly is a bit much, was looking on Craigslist, found a 2008 Hardwoods camo Grizzly 700 without EPS with 450 miles and a dealer installed winch for 5900,quad is totally stock and was only trail ridden,according to ad,have not looked at it yet, NADA book retail is close to 7400 , low retail is 5800, does this sound like a deal? will i really miss out not having EPS?,to me, just seems another expensive electronic part to break, like 1200 to replace? Any info from EPS and non EPS owners is greatly appreciated.

When I bought mine I was thinking the same as you, (Who needs EPS?) well after test riding both all I can say is WOW how much I love having Power steering! Not only does it do as advertised but it is also a great anti kickback device as well! When you are on trails full of tree roots or rocks it makes a huge bit of difference! I ride with a friend who has a none EPS Grizz one year older than mine and we swapped quads one day for fun and all I can say is that I sure am glad I chose one with it. With that said you probably wont notice it as much if you have never had EPS but don't ever ride one with it or you WILL be trading yours in on one the next day! If you go to Grizzly Riders - Yamaha Grizzly ATV Forum and read some of the topics you will see that on more than one occasion that the person who owns a non EPS unit is looking to upgrade to a unit that does!

P.S. Nothing is fail proof but of all the grizzlys that have EPS I have only read of one going bad and that was on a early dealer demo unit that went trough water and the water got into the motor and froze!

 

Dang, thought someone would tell me the EPS was nice, but overrated, now you got me thinking on that too !!. Too bad, good price on a newer Grizz, might have to start looking at dealers all over to see if any sales come up. Just hate the idea of plunking down over 9k in one shot on something that isnt a car or truck !!

If you look on the GR website you can sometimes find some guys giving good deals like this one that sold.
