Default Warrior Trouble Running

I have a 1993 Yamaha warrior with a K&N Filter. Everything else is stock. The bike started fine 2 days ago and idled fine for a few minutes. When I shifted to first, it died right away. I tried to restart quickly and it would not start. After waiting atleast 10 whole minutes, it would start but not without feathering the throttle a little. Parked it for the night and tried again yesterday. Started up fine with the choke. Pushed the choke in and idle settled some but still seemed high. after about 15 seconds, the quad revved itself up quickly then died. I let it sit for 10 minutes, as it would not fire right way after it died, and it started fine but died again after 15-20 seconds after idling itself up quickly. Today, it would do the exact same thing except right before it died today it did not idle itself up at all, just cut out and died. I check the Fuel from the petcock, good. I checked the filter, fine. I checked the float bowl, looked fine. Jets seemed fine, but did not pull them out of the carb. I briefly looked at the boot from the carb to the engine for a possible crack but didnt see anything. Some of the wiring harness could use some help, but it ran fine before with the wiring so i'm ruling that out.

Any ideas?

when it run for abit then the idle goes real high then dies means it's leaning out then out of fuel. definetly a fuel problem!!! leave the gas cap off and try again, some times the breather gets cloged and it will act like that.

I just finished completely cleaning the carb. I removed all jets and ran a wire through them all. The main jet that seats in the bowl of the carb itself looked as if it was completely clogged. I cleaned that out and put the carb back on. Now the quad will not start at all. I put a new plug in and still will not start. The old plug is black and covered in soot. I believe this means it is running rich. I cant find my manual to find the proper turns on the screws, but the little screw I adjusted with a flat head screwdriver is 2.5 turns out. Any ideas?

I just want to close this thread as I got the Warrior running a few minutes ago.

Just so everyone knows, After cleaning the carb and unclogging the main jet, the quad still would not run. I unhooked the fuel line from the carb and turned the petcock to the on position. The fuel came out in a slow drip. I then turned it to reserve and it was a slow reserve flow. I took the petcock out, after draining the fuel, and it was covered in dirt and mud. Cleaned it off with some carb cleaner and the quad now runs good as new. Thanks for all the input!
