You shouldn't have to shrink it. This type of rubber(butyl with polymer enhancers)is VERY resistant to all types of petroleum products except for highly refined fuels. If it had expanded due to some type of reaction it would have a thinned-out ballon type look and be highly pliable. Take a really close look at it to make sure it is lined up correctly and in the T-case groove for the internal lip on the boot. Freezing it won't really shrink it very appreciably.
Good Luck....

No way no how boghammer,,,myself and a buddy just spent an hour trying to get the damn thing on the swingarm,,2 of us can't hold the boot in place,,its way too big.All this is with the swingarm off, too, so its easy to get at.Its too big on the engine side too,,,I'm thinking it was the wrong one right from the factory,,,it was all bunched up under the clamp when I took it apart.Got some choice nicknames for Yamaha engineers now, though.Gonna hafta talk to the dealer in the morning,,, should be able to get nowhere fast there.(lol)
