Hard Starting 1997 Timberwolf
I have acquired a 1997 Timberwolf 250. I know the the complete history of this bike from it's purchase (new) by a friend. It has very few hours (around 200) and has been sitting for quite a while. I have a pretty good knowledge of motorcycle and ATV and been working on them most of my life.
That being said, I have thoroughly cleaned the carb and have a starting issue. It will start and run a second or two and die. This happens repeatedly for several minutes, then it will finally start and run and idle fine. But the starting process has me confused. I believe it is a float issue in the carb but I cannot find any instructions on how to properly set it. Can anyone help with this problem?

Fixed
Well, after several more carb cleanings I believe I have solved the problem. The problem was the float. I found about 1/4" of fuel in bowl each time I opened the carb which did not seem enough so I adjusted it for more flow and things began to improve. I finally ordered a new float and that seemed to solve the problem. I reinstalled the carb and adjusted the idle jet and choke plunger and all seem to be good. Hope this helps someone else with similar issues.
