What is a secondary clutch??
#2
I am not to familier with that model but what I can tell from parts breakdowns online this model does not have a secondary clutch. My understanding of a secondary clutch would be on a bike with a constant velocity drive system as snowmobiles have. The primary clutch would be directly connected to the engine and would start in the full open position while the secondary is connected to the final drive components (i.e. transfer case, HI/LO selector) and starts in the fully closed position. As the primary clutch is forced closed by the centrifugal force of the spinning weights the secondary is forced open by the force of the belt moving. The unit you are asking about just has a typical semi automatic style clutch that is connected to the gearing system (transmission). So you may just be looking at replacing clutch plates or you could have an issue in the transmission itself. Hope that helps and good luck.

worn out and will need to be replaced." Does he mean the primary clutch?

he could be talking about the centrifugal clutch. those go bad more than anything in your clutching. and depending on the bike could run you 500 in parts to replace because if the centrifugal clutch is bad then most likely the bell housing it catches on is grooved and would need to be replaced too.
