Yamaha U-Joints
#21
For pressing the new ones in-start with the one end on your work bench obviously. I started one cap in about half way and then worked the joint into it and then put the other cap on. The hardest thing i found was getting all of the needles to stay in the cap while I was playing around with it! For the last one I actually stuck a 7 mm 1/4 inch drive socket in my bench vise and then stuck the cap on it and sanded off all the way around the cap to make it a bit smalled in diameter (probably not the "right" way to do it) but the cap pushed in much easier. And after 8 hours of playing with it, I was looking for easy---and my wife who watched our 7 month the whole day was really looking for easy!! The clip holds the cap in place anyway so i didnt see a problem with making it a bit smaller.
My old wolverine only gets ridden about 150 miles/year vs about 1000 for my other quad. I probably haven't kept up on the maintenance like I should...just put the new u joints in and a muffler on-it is like a high performance machine now!! You don't see too many of the old wolves out there anymore-good to know someone still has one!
