The other day I was riding and I needed to go into reverse. I was unable to do so. The shifter won't go past neutral. Is there something I can try before I end up just taking it in to get fixed?I ride a 2003 yamaha kodiak 400 4X4 ultramatic transmission.

 

Don't know if yours is like mine but it has a switch on the foot brake that wont' allow you to put it in reverse unless its pressed down. Maybe needs adjusting?

 

My 89 big bear was also like that you have to press the foot brake to get into reverse.

The mechanism disconnected once and I had to reconnected it to have reverse once again.
