If you are going to take it apart you might as well pick up a service manual. They are cheap and help you more often than you think.

Dirt 817 is absolutely right! Buy a service manual before you get yourself in trouble. If you don't even know how to take off the head and cylinder, you will definetly benefit from a manual. Even with the manual, you should probably get some experienced assistance when you install the new (bigger) piston and insert it into the cylinder. Have you ever delt with piston circlips, stuck piston pins, or piston ring end gap positioning? A novice may also have a hard time compressing the piston rings and sliding the cylinder over them by him or herself. Don't take this suggestion the wrong way. I am just trying to help you avoid a disaster. All it takes is a poorly installed circlip and all of your work and money goes up in smoke (literally).

Thanks for the support, btodd. Raptorguy01, I know you're just taking off the top end, but it is way more involved than just taking off a few bolts and lifting it off. Do yourself a huge favor and get a service manual. I just rebuilt my top end 2 months ago and I couldn't have done it without the manual. If anything else goes wrong you can be sure you can fix it the right way.
