Default muffler tape?

Does muffler tape hold up well on an atv? I have a small hole about the size of a quarter in my muffler. I got it earlier in the week and within 15 minutes it had melted through the plastic on the fender and the seat! little hole caused an awful lot of damage!

I'm not worired about the plastic or seat (duct tape time haha) but I need to get the muffler fixed and I don't want to pay the dealer for a new one!

it's a yamaha wolverine 350.

Hey what did your wolverien do to you...lol please don't use the chewing gum approach as it will not work.... 3 options i see. 1. get new exhaust, 2. get a GOOD condition used exhaust, 3. plug weld the hole. try not to ride it until you get that exhaust leak fixed. A hole or leak in an exhaust can cause a LEAN condition and melt your piston.... $$$

I bought one on ebay for my old 350 wolv before I sold it for just over 100...much better than the cost of new!

Just searched ebay and there are a few used mufflers on there for right around 100 bucks! Keep in mind that a warrior muffler also fits your quad...saw a used one for 75 bucks. The only difference that I saw (I put a warrior one on my wolv) was that it has an extra mounting hole on the bottom of the muffler...I really didn't care that it was there for a multiple hundred dollar savings over new!!

Welding it isn't a lot of trouble unless it's just rotted completely away. Cheap too. :-)
