No didnt check that just asking how would that effect it miss firing like that? But i got a better look at it and there is a small hole in in the carb boot and there is air comming out of that i think thats the problem thats making it miss fire but still dont know why it wants to shut off when i give it gas it seems like its not getting enough gas but i had the crab ajusted

the carb boot could be causing all of your problems it will have the incorrect a/f mixture. Go to an autoparts store and pick up some rtv gasket sealant and put that on the hole and see if the problem goes away. I'd do a carb kit while I had it off if it was me.

The RTV likely wont last all that long but it will at least tell you it fixes the problem. those boots are pretty expensive, around 200 bucks!

sorry, regarding the parking brake switch.. it's a very common problem on these if it is defective the engine will not run right. After hearing about the hole in the boot though that's the likely problem.

OK ty for the tips i was looking into the gasket sealant thats what ima probably gonna do. Would a Dynojet jet Kit be a good idea thats the only jet kit i found that might fit the atv what you think? I also put some carb and jet cleaner in it as well thinking that would fix it but didnt.

the only thing thats going to fix it is fixing that hole. even if you are having other carb problems you will never figure them out with that hole there.

you get the carb kit from the yamaha dealer. it's not just a main jet, it has all of the gaskets and screws.

on a 97 wolvy i'd just try the sealant and keep some in your tool kit haha. Hold out for a used one, check craigslist, kijiji, ebay, etc. It's a very easy part to replace.
