Default Tire Confusion - 03 Kodiak 400

I have an 2003 Kodiak 400 4x4. The model on the front of the manual say YFM4FAR. The current tires, I assume originals, are Maxxis. On front 25x8-12 and 25x10-12 on rear. Can I pick any tires that size to fit my ride? I went to Amazon and selected tires sized as above. Amazon asked me to confirm they'd fit by entering the make/year/model. Once I did that it said the tires I'd picked wouldn't fit.

Thanks

All that matters is the last number "12" which is for your 12" dia. rims that are 7.5" wide.

You can go taller and wider if you want like 26"x9" fronts and 26"x11 backs.
Which tires did you chose and they say would not fit?

I just ordered 26x9 and 26x11 Maxxis Zilla tires for my 350 Grizzly which have the same stock rims and tires you have.

Thanks for the reply. :-)

The tire I was trying to add at Amazon is the "Kenda Bearclaw K299 ATV Tire - 25X8.00-12". When I entered "2003 Yamaha YFM400F Kodiak 4x4" to check the fit, it says it doesn't.

I'm just looking for some low cost tires for general use. I'm off-road on my own property in bush and rocks, so I need something to work well there. About once a year I have the opportunity to a day-long trail ride which may include some mud.

I was considering GBC Dirt Devil tires, but Amazon didn't have the correct size for me. I'm not committed to Amazon. I'm just hoping to get a set of tires for around $300 with free shipping. A set of Dirt Devil tires was costing $266 when I priced them last year. They seem to have gone up substantially since then. I guess I shouldn't have waited. :-(

I can get a set of Sedona Mud Rebel from bikebandit.com for $297. They get good reviews on the site. They look to have a similar tread profile to the OEM Maxxis that came with the bike. Anyone got an opinion on them? Thx.

Seems like people like them. Sedona Mud Rebel Front Tire Product Reviews
Its crazy how can one 25x8-12 not fit if the ATV came with 25x8-12. LOL

I like the mudlite XL with the taller 1-1/8" lug. That way after hundreds of miles of riding it will look like a New Mudlite "AT" with a 3/4" lug.

Its a do it all tire.
