And the funny thing is I sold my 89 350 Big Bear to a friend 7 years ago and I still ride with him and it still is going strong. LOL

Your never going to see reliability like that over 24 years with a new liquid cooled big bore with every bell and whistle. Not a chance.

I would think the chances are less - yes. There were a lot of older Yamaha's on CL when I was looking for a quad to buy - but initially avoided them as I knew the least about them. Was looking primarily at Honda's and Polaris. Glad that this Timberwolf presented itself and had a seller that was not unreasonable. (That can be sometimes as hard to find as a good used bike....)

About everything they had when they started making 4wheelers in 1985 was a moto-4 of some variety. Standard 3wheelers were Tri-moto's. I had a 1985 Moto-4 200 as well as a 1986 Moto-4 225 (they didnt call this a 250 until 1989). Folks up the road had a Moto-4 350. Saturday, I saw a girl on a 1986 Moto-4 200. Last week I saw a little Moto-4 80 (about an 86 model from the looks). I still remember looking over all of the lineups as a kid in those 1984-1986 range models. Yamaha Moto 4's, Kawasaki Bayou's, Honda TRX 200's and Fourtrax 250's, and a wide range of Suzuki Quadrunners. And then came the rackety Polaris Trail Boss 250 with its chainsaw 2 stroke, belt transmission, and chain drive. I never knew a single person that owned one back then though. Mostly Honda folk around here, and the same old guys still buy them today. We had Yamaha's, and thus, I still have a Yamaha.

The shaft drive systems in these older Yamaha's seems to be pretty bullet-proof as well. Does Yamaha still use that system today in newer quads?

Default Questions on a 1995 2x4 timberwolf Yamaha.

Hi,
I'm looking at a 1995 Yamaha 2x4 timberwolf and wanted to know if it is worth 800$? Atv has new battery new seat cover with nice tires no signs of oil leaks and fires up very easily. But missing front and rear metal racks but everything else is there and seems to work fine. Thanks for reading and any help provided.
